The United Nations Security Council approved a resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire in Gaza during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Fourteen of 15 Security Council members voted in favor of the resolution, which was jointly proposed by the 10 elected members of the council. The US abstained.
Monday’s resolution marks the first time the Security Council has openly called for a cease-fire since Israel began its campaign to wipe out Hamas. Read more here:
